I want to share some tips about both of these popular operating systems and pros and cons of each:
Vista:
Yes, a resource hungry OS. Annoying "user control" questions when trying to do basic tasks. But with the right hardware, and customizing your settings, Vista is actually a fairly stable OS. Right now, it's tried and true, unlike any new OS that comes onto the market.
Windows 7: I've been using it for a few months now. I see a lot of user interface similarities with 7 and Vista. W7 does seem to run smoother when multi-tasking and the resource hungry atmosphere doesnt seem as heavy. The only con I have is that older hardware or legacy software may not have support or drivers with Windows 7 as of yet.
So just remember. No matter what home OS you choose to go with, make sure you're supporting it correctly with the right hardware choices. Choose your hardware as to what you do on a daily basis. If you're just an internet surfer, then a single core processor will work just fine. If you're a multitasker and multimedia type person, then I would highly recommend at LEAST a dual-core processor setup with 3GB or more of memory.
And please do not forget: Please run a antivirus/anti-spyware program on your computer and have a regular backup/imaging process in place!
My Review:
Windows Vista - 3 1/2 out of 5 stars
Windows 7 - 4 out of 5 stars
